Overview:

Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCD-NER) is a government program part of the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA). It focuses on promoting organic farming in the northeastern states of India, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. The goal is to help farmers in these states grow organic products and connect them with consumers. This program covers everything from providing organic seeds and certification to setting up facilities for collecting, processing, and marketing organic products.

Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region

Activities completed as part of the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCD-NER) include:

  • Formation of Farmers Interest Groups (FIGs).
  • Selection of Board of Directors (BOD), CEO, Chairman, and Secretary.
  • Consumer awareness campaigns.
  • Training on organic farming and certification.
  • Coordination using GPS at the farm level.
  • Establishment of Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs).
  • Development of FPC logos.
  • Branding, labeling, and packaging.
  • Data entry in GPS format for certifying agencies.
  • Opening bank accounts for FPCs.
  • Collection of crop details.
  • Establishing market linkages.
  • Renting space in prime locations.
